Almost a dozen people were nominated, with some very notable names failing to make the cut this year. Annie Duke, Jennifer Harman, Huck Seed, and Scotty Nguyen were all nominated but not inducted. These players are eligible for induction in the future. In the meantime, maybe they should get a poker download and continue playing poker.

Nominations and inductions are not a simple process. The World Series of Poker oversees the Hall of Fame, and they allow anyone to suggest names for nomination. The Poker Hall of Fame Governing Council picks ten nominations to be sent to 17 prominent poker media members and eighteen people already in the Hall of Fame. Each voter gets 10 points, and they can distribute them among the ten nominations in any way they choose. The two names that receive the most points are then inducted.

There is a list of criteria that nominations for the Poker Hall of Fame must meet. Some examples of necessary criteria include that they must have played against acknowledged top competition, and they must be at least 40 years old. If someone nominated isn’t actually a player of poker, they must have contributed to the overall growth and success of poker.

Barry Greenstein, an ambassador of PokerStars, needs little introduction. Some say that he’s the Robin Hood of Poker since he has given a whopping three million dollars to charity in his lifetime. In total he has won three WSOP bracelets and two WPT titles, and his total tournament winnings amounts to over $7 million.

If you'd like to play at Pokerstars, use a PokerStars bonus code to get extra bonus funds.

The other induction was that of Linda Johnson. She is partly known for winning a WSOP bracelet in 1997. She used to own the Card Player magazine, and she helped to establish the World Poker Tour. If that wasn’t enough, she has also penned a few poker books, and she is a great ambassador of the game. Mike Sexton even gave her the nickname of “The First Lady of Poker”.

PokerStars Sunday

If you are a tournament player, you probably know that the top holdem poker online sites have big guarantees for their Sunday MTTs. The PokerStars download recently changed the times for its Sunday Majors so that they better suit those that live in Europe.

Your first opportunity to play a PokerStars Sunday Major is at 8:00 AM ET. This event costs $109 to enter and features a prize pool of at least $75,000. If you are a fan of rebuys, you can play the $109 rebuy at 12:00 PM ET. It has a $200,000 guarantee.

The 2nd largest guarantee of the week on PokerStars is found in the Sunday Warm-Up which kicks off at 11:00 AM ET and guarantees a $500,000 prize pool. It costs $215 to play this event.

The Sunday tournament for the microstakes players comes in at 13:30 ET. Even though the guaranteed prize pool is an impressive $200k, the entry fee is an affordable $11.

The featured and most advertised tournament on the PokerStars download is the Sunday Million. The guarantee is a gigantic $1 million, and the buy-in is $215. This tourney offers the chance at a 6-figure payday.

It’s not over after the Sunday Million, though. There is also the Sunday 500 that takes place at 15:30 ET for $530 and carries a $250k guaranteed prize pool. The Sunday Second Chance takes place at 16:30 PM for another $215. The guarantee for this tourney is $125k.

If you are looking for a change of pace, give the Sunday 6-Max or Sunday Supersonic a shot. You can enter the 6-Max for $162 and you’ll be playing for at least $60k. It has a late start at 5 PM ET. The Supersonic takes place even later at 6:30 PM ET, but it finishes quite early since it is a hyper-turbo. Play it for $215 and play for a $40k prize pool.

Even though I already listed the Sunday Majors, there are actually plenty more tourneys that only run on Sundays. They also have Stud and Draw events at $215 buy-ins.

If you want just gamble on your day off, try playing Cleopatra Slots, the most popular slot game of all time!

PokerStars and the WSOP 2011

Thanks to US indictments handed out by the Department of Justice, people residing in the US are no longer able to download PokerStars. Everyone else in the world received a much better fate as they are still welcome to play on the site, but they have seen some pretty significant changes take place.
There have been some favorable changes. For example, Europeans recently enjoyed a SCOOP schedule that was much more European-friendly than in other years. There have also been some bad changes. For instance, SCOOP had much smaller prize pools this year.
Some people will also be disappointed about the lack of PokerStars presence at the WSOP this summer. Years past have enjoyed some amazing incentives for the WSOP through PokerStars. For example, people received VPPs just for representing the site in the Main Event. They also used to give bonus cash for winning the event. For example, Duhamel received $1 million in compensation for wearing the PokerStars logo and winning the event.
Such things were possible back when PokerStars was still one of the best US poker sites on the Internet. In light of their trouble with the Department of Justice, they have decided to stay out of the US for now. They will not have PokerStars representatives at the WSOP at all.
In 2010 there was a fancy PokerStars gathering and they gave free PokerStars clothing. They used to also book their players rooms in the Palms Place. 2011 will see none of this. No one gets a bonus for winning their Main Event seat on PokerStars, nor is there a final table incentive.
None of this comes as any surprise. The target market for PokerStars is no longer the US and so WSOP would just go to waste. US TV stations have decided against airing PokerStars sponsored shows, which means that there is no payoff for investing in the Series.
This article should not be a reason to become discouraged, however! Everyone that lives outside of America has the option to download free poker at PokerStars. There are ways to win WSOP Main event packages on PokerStars, and I’ll write again soon to discuss them is further detail.

UK poker players continue to have plenty of awesome options for online poker. One of the best places for online poker players in the UK is William Hill. The William Hill download offers new players a bonus of up to £1250! And as residents of the UK know, William Hill is a well known and trusted brand. Get the William Hill poker download today!

PokerStars Software

Poker Stars.com is undoubtedly the biggest poker site. But instead of quitting its drive after having achieved this distinction, Poker Stars.com continues to innovate by making sure its software is the best available from any site at any time. All told, the PokerStars software client is preferred almost universally among people who play online poker and today we shall properly explain a few of the reasons why it's the best.

To tackle things from top to bottom, let us begin with the eye candy. To get the spoiler out of the way, the PokerStars.com client is a thing of beauty. The default lobby uses colors brilliantly to guide your focus while browsing within it, and is extremely pleasing to the eye. And should it happen that it displeases you, you can switch to the classic layout or implement any other lobby you might like because it was designed with customization in mind, with tons of alternative lobbies found online. The table eye candy is equally alluring and fully customizable. You will have no difficulty in finding a theme that will be pleasing to look at for a prolonged amount of time, which is definitely the software client's objective.

And then we tackle the PokerStars' lobby layout. Owing to the sheer supply of daily volume that Poker Stars attracts, its lobby, at least in theory, should be a total mess. But thankfully that is not the case (for the better, obviously), because the Poker Stars.com lobby makes excellent use of tabbed and filters in an effort to be as easy to use and clean as possible, making finding the exact game you are looking for a breeze.

All text is easily legible even though its size can be customized to your heart's desire. The dimensions of the lobby can be easily changed as well, and has additional filters that can be customized and then enabled or disabled on the fly. The buttons that adorn the default lobby theme can be interacted with without any effort or difficulty.

For example, in an effort to make the most use out of PokerStars' tabbed interface, you can very easily sort using any particular criteria, and then by another additional criteria, and then by a third additional criteria. This is done by simply right-clicking on the lowest set of tabs whether in the cash lobby, tournament lobby, or any of the other lobbies.

In a nutshell, the PokerStars.com lobby layout is a truly outstanding achievement, and using it is so second nature that you won't even notice it's there. And that is an epic win when we speak of software, yet the Poker Stars programmers got this done with utmost elegance.

The tables are the place you are going to spend the vast majority of time on if you are playing on any online poker site. PokerStars clearly had this in mind when they designed their client, and improvements based on user requests are continually reviewed and implemented, in order to make the experience as second nature and pleasing as possible. As you can undoubtedly see for yourself all that effort that went into this piece of kit most definitely paid off.

The themes of the tables themselves can be customized into totally new iterations. 18 themes are at your fingertips right from within the PokerStars.com software itself, with a lot more available online at specialty sites.

There are also a host of options included in the software, and these range from simple stuff like 4-color cards to very advanced stuff such as popping a table up whenever a user action is required and single click to activate table which is a boon for multi-tabling players everywhere who are making use of Poker Stars client.

Acting out on your thoughts using this software is the easiest thing in the world thanks to large and clearly legible buttons that seem to respond very well to mouse and keyboard input.

The hand histories are easily accessible and can be viewed in a very handy replayer that allows you to play the hand back the way you wish.

When it comes to stability and security features, you can definitely rest assured knowing that your money is in safe hands, as Poker Stars.com has implemented some truly top of the line features to ensure that account hacking is a thing of the past, unless you are intent on getting hacked and start spamming your password and account ID over the Internet.

Let's face it: the most common way to protect all types of accounts are passwords, but can be beaten by sophisticated attacks and grant unauthorized access to pretty much any account. To get rid of any risk of keyloggers, the PokerStars software client has implemented a feature called "PokerStars PIN" which is a 6 digit pin that you would need to enter alongside your password in order to play your session. The special recipe? The pin needs to be input by using the mouse alone with the placing of the numbers onscreen changing constantly. This will make it pretty much impossible for any keylogger to catch your pin and your password to allow malicious people to access your account.

And on top of that, Poker Stars has another trick up its sleeve. Located in the PokerStars VIP store you can get an RSA Token, which you have to pay for using FPPs. Essentially, the higher your VIP level, the less in FPP you will have to spend to get your own brand spanking new RSA token. Essentially, the RSA token will generate a valid 6-digit pin code every 60 seconds, which needs to be entered in addition to your password when you want to access your account. This is referred to as a two-factor authentication scheme which is very hard to hack/crack, and makes sure your account is safe from hacking attempts and always at the ready for you to place your bets

On the back-end, the Poker Stars.com software is supported by outstanding servers, which can qualify as being military grade. Unicorn sightings are more common than PokerStars server outages, and the service is always rock solid even with the daily 300,000+ players these servers see.

PokerStars is consistently ranked among the best us poker sites and top Texas Holdem sites.

When you take everything into consideration, the PokerStars.com client is pretty much as good as it gets. Unequaled graphics, robustness, functionality and robustness make of the PokerStars software a dream come true. And grinding on it will be accented by how you don't ever notice the software at all, which is pretty much the best feature it brings to the proverbial table.

The PokerStars Pros

Many of us became interested in poker by watching it on tv. No doubt if you are a poker player or a fan, you have seen many of the best players in the world either on shows like Poker After Dark and High Stakes Poker or during coverage of the World Series of Poker or World Poker Tour. They are usually sporting hats or t-shirts from the online poker site that sponsors them. Many of them are sponsored in one way or another with an online poker site, and many of the world's best players are happy to call PokerStars.com their home.

Several of the most recent WSOP Main Event Champions play exclusively at Stars as part of Team PokerStars Pro. Joe "jcada99" Cada is the latest Main Event Champion to join the ranks of the PokerStars Pros. He plays exclusively at PokerStars, as well as 2003 Main Event Champ, Chris Moneymaker, who went from complete unknown to poker sensation overnight. Also included in the list of WSOP Champions turned PokerStars Pro are Joe Hachem, Greg Raymer, and Peter Eastgate, who play as JoeHachem, fossilMan, and PeteEastgate, respectively. Apparently, when PokerStars is looking to sign a player, they look for champions first.

Two of the most popular players on PokerStars roster have plenty of WSOP bracelets, but no Main Event titles. Barry Greenstein is one of these guys. Barry is a true legend in the poker world. He's a staple at the big time tournaments like the World Series, as well as high stakes cash games and tv shows like High Stakes Poker. You can find him on PokerStars under the name barryg1, usually playing larger buy-in tournaments.

Daniel Negreanu is another player who needs little introduction. Until Phil Ivey's amazing run this year during the WSOP, Daniel was the all time leader in cash won for live tournaments. If poker is going to be on tv, he's usually there, whether it is a tournament or high stakes cash game. Recently he's been spotted playing $100/$200 cash games on PokerStars under his famous screen name KidPoker, although internet cash games have not been kind to him. However, he's unquestionably one of the greatest players in the world and probably one of the most recognizable faces in poker today.

As if these players were not enough, the list of great players continues. Here are a few more names that choose to play exclusively on PokerStars.

If you follow online tournaments at all then you will definitely know the name ElkY. Bertrand Grospellier has definitely made a name for himself as someone to fear in every tournament he plays (and he plays in a lot). Whether live or on PokerStars, other players have to respect what ElkY has accomplished.

Most men would love to watch this next player play poker all day long. If you have ever sat at a table with LadyMaven, then you had your chance to chat with Vanessa Rousso. Don't stare though, by the time you look down you'll find yourself a short-stack. Vanessa is really a great player. She proved it once again when she took first place in the 2009 NBC National Heads Up Poker Championship by winning every match she played. This was no cake walk either. She "only" beat Doyle Brunson, Phil Ivey, Paul Wasicka, Daniel Negreanu, Bertrand Grospellier and Huck Seed, in that order, on her way to winning the title.

Two of PokerStars more boisterous Pros are Humberto Brenes (HumbertoB on Stars) and Hevad 'RaiNKhaN' Khan. Both have made pretty loud impressions during televised events. These players are not all bark and no bite though. Humberto is on the top ten list for cash finishes in World Series of Poker history, with over 40 cash finishes. In the earlier days of online poker, Khan was accused of being a poker bot and was forced to make a now famous (You Tube) video of himself playing 20 tournaments simultaneously.

Read to give PokerStars a shot? A PokerStars download offers you the highest quality poker software and the player base that comes along with it is unparalleled. To add to a superb game selection and several options to customize your playing experience, I also stated that when you make your first deposit, you receive your first PokerStars bonus. You receive 100% of what you deposit up to $600, all in bonus cash.

As soon as you've made your Poker Stars download, releasing your bonus is done quite easily. The only thing you have to do is play poker hands in real money games, and you will be generating VIP Player Points (VPP) in the process. This bonus is known as a 17x bonus, meaning you will have to earn 17 times the amount you deposited in VPPs to release it. Assuming for instance the amount in question is $300, 17 x $300 = 5100 VPP will be needed to clear the bonus. If instead the amount deposited is the entire $600, 17 x $600 = 10,200 VPPs will be required to clear the whole thing. The bonus will be released into your account in $10 increments, meaning that every time you earn 170 VPPs you will have earned a chunk of the bonus. It bears mentioning that points earned in both tournaments and cash games count towards the sign up bonus, so no matter which you play, you will be earning VPPs while doing it. You have 180 days to earn the required amount of VPPs before the bonus expires.

PokerStars bonus clearing speed is entirely dependent on the games played, and the stakes at which these games are played. Say you decide to play 25NL cash games (which, bankroll-wise, if you deposited only $600 you should not be playing), it will take you approximately 159,376 hands at Full Ring or about 110,870 hands at 6-Max to clear the whole bonus. Notice that these are the approximate maximum playing only the one or the other, and if you mix and match Full Ring and 6-Max games, you will need lower amounts. Raise the stakes to for instance $50 No Limit, the total amounts will drop, becoming a total of 77,273 hands Full Ring or 56,667 hands at 6-Max, and a mix resulting a number in between.

You can also combine cash play with tournament play to clear the bonus, or if you so desire only play MTT poker. You will be earning 5.50 VPPs for every single dollar you pay in tourney fees. Assuming you play $15+$1 tourneys, you’d have to play 10,200/5.5 = about 1,855 tourneys to release your entire bonus. Raise the stakes to $25+$2, and it would take half as many to clear it. As already thoroughly explained, these are simply the extremes in any one category of games you could play; different combinations of game types and stakes will give you different results.

It's important to remember that differing combinations of stakes and games will lead to amounts which are different than those extremes. But one thing should be clear to you, and that is that the higher you play the less volume you will need to clear the bonus, and the opposite is also true. One possible scenario in which a player may clear the whole bonus, is to play 50% $10+$1 SNGs, 25% 25NL FR and 25% 50NL 6-max. According to that scenario, you would need about 900 SNGs, about 36,000 poker hands 25NL FR and about 14,500 hands 50NL 6-max.

Online Poker in the US

Online Poker in America Still Rapidly Growing

Over the past several years, the enjoyment of poker has surged in the Unites States. Much of this is due to the expansion of Internet poker and television channels such as ESPN broadcasting the annual World Series of Poker. Millions of Americans started playing online poker.

The legal status of American poker online was unclear. But on September 29, 2006, the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act of 2006 (UIGEA) was passed. This law made it illegal for online casino gambling establishments to process payments from a US bank. During this time, PartyPoker.com was far and away the most popular poker room in the world. However, on October 2, 2006 PartyPoker announced that it would no longer accept US players.

Not all Internet rooms left American poker online. Two up and coming sites were Poker Stars and Full Tilt Poker. Soon after the UIGEA was passed, PokerStars released a statement to their customers. They decided that the law didn't affect them and that they were committed to their customers.

It has been a debate for the longest time about whether or not poker is game of skill or a gambling game. Party Poker apparently decided it was a game of chance and so closed their doors to the American market. PokerStars took the stance that poker was a game of skill, and therefore the law did not apply to them.

The result is that Poker Stars is now the top online poker room in the world with thousands of people making a poker deposit every day. During peak hours, over a quarter million people can be found at the tables. This is far more than even PartyPoker had when they were in their prime. Full Tilt Poker is also doing very well and averages about 100,000 people online at a time. It appears that even with the passage of the UIGEA, the rise in poker popularity has not ceased. Commercials advertising a Full Tilt or PokerStars download can even be seen on TV.

Anyone interested in poker should try playing some poker hands at one of the many popular US friendly poker sites. A majority of the online community still consider Poker Stars and FullTiltPoker.com to be the best US poker sites, though.

There are plenty of free poker tools, poker forums, and other free resources available to you on the internet to help you develop your poker game. This is a free hand converter to analyze online poker hands, and here are free poker videos to watch others play online poker!

Wanna try playing some online poker? Their dedicated customers, selection of games, and advertising campaigns make countless players term PokerStars home. Of course, that doesn’t even include the PokerStars Bonus, which is an incredible 100% up to $600!
PokerStars.com used to have a 100% up to $50 first deposit bonus, which was pretty small compared to all the other poker rooms online. I have often wondered why the largest online poker room would go for a bonus that didn't seem to stack up against the competition, but PokerStars has remedied that situation by upping their bonus to a full $600!

Let’s say your like me and don't have a lot of cash to deposit immediately to start your account. You could deposit $200, but you want to take advantage of the whole bonus and deposit the whole $600 so you can double your money. PokerStars knows your concerns and that's why you can make up to 3 deposits within a 90 day period that will add up towards your PokerStars Bonus! So, put in that $200 and then next week deposit another $150. Then, in a few weeks when you get you next paycheck, deposit the outstanding $250. Being as these three deposits were made within a 90 day period they will all count towards a $600 deposit for the 100% up to $600 PokerStars Bonus.
Once you've made the required deposit for the PokerStars Bonus, you will then need to start earning VIP Player Points (VPPs) to liberate the bonus into your account. You can earn VPPs by participating in cash games and tournaments. The amount of VPPs awarded in cash games depends on the game type and the rake for the hand. Tournaments are a little more straightforward. For each$1 that is paid toward tournament fees you earn 5.5 VPPs. Either way, VPPs accrue quickly and very quickly you will release your entire bonus. For every 170 VPPs that you receive, $10 of your bonus money will be deposited into your account.
In many poker rooms, you might not get as many points because of the lack of games, but that doesn’t happen at PokerStars. There will be many tables available, even at the higher stakes, for you to set you poker dreams in motion!
Open your new account using this special PokerStars Marketing Code POKERMTT and the PokerStars bonus code of STARS600 to ensure you receive the maximum bonus, and extra perks such as private freerolls and money-added tournaments!
So, sign up at PokerStars today! Get playing and take advantage of that PokerStars Bonus!

PokerStars Marketing Code

While opening a new player account at PokerStars, a very important question will ask you, “How did you find out about PokerStars?”.
